Shocka to perform at East London charity music event

Shocka has been announced to perform at the launch of Listen Out in Walthamstow this September.

The charity music event brings together artists, charities and local groups with one shared mission, it uses live music as a force for connection, hope and positive change. Listen Out will host its inaugural event on World Suicide Prevention Day, Thursday 10 September 2026, at Big Penny Social.

The movement was created to celebrate the role live music can play in improving wellbeing, strengthening communities and encouraging people to seek support earlier. It aims to show how shared cultural experiences can help people feel connected long before reaching crisis point.

The launch event will feature a line‑up of established and emerging artists, including award‑winning rapper and mental health advocate Shocka, who will perform in support of youth mental health charity Beyond. Rising artist AnderSol will also take to the stage, supporting Black Minds Matter. DJ Jim Jamal will provide a specially curated set throughout the evening, and more artists will be announced in the coming weeks.

Alongside the live performances, audiences will be able to connect with charities and community organisations offering advice, information and support. The event will also highlight Listen Out’s commitment to creating pathways into the creative industries through volunteering, mentoring, training and work experience opportunities for young people.

Listen Out aims to build a new kind of live music experience — one that celebrates creativity while raising funds for charities and community groups, championing emerging talent and strengthening community connections. The initiative also hopes to explore the concept of “Gigs on Prescription” in the future, recognising how music and social connection can support wellbeing.

Tickets are now available at ListenOut.org.
