New Series of Ted Lasso Continues Weekly Release on Apple TV+

The fourth series of Ted Lasso is now underway on Apple TV+, marking the return of the award‑winning comedy that many viewers had believed concluded in 2023. The latest instalment sees the show shift its focus to AFC Richmond’s newly formed women’s team, introducing a new chapter for the programme while maintaining its familiar tone of optimism and humour.

Episodes are being released weekly, with UK viewers able to watch each instalment from the early hours of Wednesday mornings. The series premiered earlier this month and has already attracted strong viewing figures, with Apple TV+ reporting record‑breaking engagement for the opening episode.

This new series brings Ted back to London after his departure to the United States at the end of series three. He returns to take on a coaching role within Richmond’s second‑division women’s squad, a storyline that reflects ongoing conversations around investment, facilities and visibility in women’s football across the UK.

The core cast remains in place, including Jason Sudeikis, Hannah Waddingham, Juno Temple, Brett Goldstein and Brendan Hunt. They are joined by new cast members portraying the women’s team, among them Tanya Reynolds, Jude Mack, Faye Marsay, Aisling Sharkey and Abbie Hern. Their characters introduce fresh narratives centred on team cohesion, personal development and the realities of competing in a rapidly evolving sporting environment.

Producers say the series aims to highlight both the challenges and the momentum within women’s football, following increased attendance and investment across the Women’s Super League and Championship. By placing Richmond’s fictional women’s team at the centre of the story, the programme seeks to reflect this growth while retaining the character‑driven approach that has defined its success.

While Ted Lasso remains primarily a comedy, the fourth series incorporates more grounded themes relating to leadership, equality and the pressures faced by women in professional sport. For UK audiences, the weekly release offers a steady continuation of a much‑loved show, alongside a timely exploration of a sport undergoing significant change.
