Danny Jones, McFly band member and coach on the Voice Kids UK, helped celebrate the 2018 BBC Children in Need schools fundraising campaign with Twinkl by treating schools across the UK to a Live Storytime reading of a new Pudsey book. Danny surprised children at Welbourne Primary School by hosting a storybook reading which was streamed to schools across the UK. The activity took place in the run-up to the charity’s Appeal Night on 16 November 2018 with the aim of encouraging schools to get fundraising.
Danny Jones read ‘Pudsey’s Great Fundraiser’ which follows Pudsey as he tries different ways to fundraise, while overcoming an array of mishaps and challenges. The book was created by Twinkl, BBC Children in Need’s Proud Schools Partner, to support and inspire schools in raising money for BBC Children in Need. Over 24,000 primary schools and establishments in the UK received a free copy of the book.
Twinkl has also created a collection of curriculum-based resources to accompany the story. The ‘Pudsey’s Great Fundraiser’ e-book and resources can be downloaded for free from the Twinkl website.
Last year schools across the UK raised over £5.6 million for the charity. Schools and nurseries interested in joining this year’s campaign can visit bbcchildreninneed.co.uk/schools to access ideas, inspiration, tools, tips and resources to start raising money:
Speaking of the day, Danny Jones more tips here http://arc-theatre.com/2017/06/bbq-fundraiser-at-bunnings-northland/ commented: “I had a fantastic time taking part in the Live Storytime with Pudsey! As a father myself it was wonderful to be able to share a Storytime reading with school children across the UK and help inspire them to get involved in the 2018 BBC Children in Need schools fundraising campaign with Twinkl.
“I have fond memories myself of taking part in fundraising activities for BBC Children in Need when I was at school and I encourage pupils and teachers to come together and raise money to help change the lives of disadvantaged children and young people across the UK.”
